In accordance with New Hampshire Cottage Food Law, all East African Bites products are prepared in a home kitchen that is not licensed or inspected by state health authorities.

By ordering from East African Bites, you acknowledge this condition and accept any associated risks.

Our home kitchen handles multiple allergens, including:

  • Wheat/Gluten
  • Eggs
  • Dairy (milk, butter, ghee)
  • Coconut
  • Nuts (including peanuts and tree nuts)
  • Soy
  • Sesame
  • Spices (cardamom, cinnamon, etc.)

⚠️ If you have severe food allergies (especially those causing anaphylactic reactions), we strongly recommend NOT ordering from our home kitchen.

Product-Specific Allergen Information

🫓 Chapati (East African Flatbread)

Soft, layered flatbread made with simple ingredients and traditional East African cooking methods.

Confirmed Allergens:

  • WHEAT/GLUTEN (Primary ingredient: wheat flour)

May Contain:

  • DAIRY (butter or ghee used in preparation)
  • EGGS (may be used in some variations)

Typical Ingredients:

All-purpose wheat flour, water, salt, vegetable oil or ghee, optional butter for brushing

🍩 Kenyan Mandazi

Lightly sweet, soft inside, golden and slightly crispy outside.

Confirmed Allergens:

  • WHEAT/GLUTEN (Primary ingredient: wheat flour)
  • EGGS (Used in dough)
  • DAIRY (Milk or coconut milk)

May Contain:

  • COCONUT (coconut milk may be used)
  • SOY (from frying oil)

All-purpose wheat flour, sugar, eggs, milk or coconut milk, baking powder, cardamom, salt, vegetable oil (for frying)

🍩 Congolese Mandazi

Richer flavor, slightly crispy texture, more filling and dense.

  • WHEAT/GLUTEN (Primary ingredient: wheat flour)
  • EGGS (Used in dough)
  • DAIRY (Milk, butter, or ghee)

May Contain:

  • COCONUT (coconut milk may be used)
  • SOY (from frying oil)
  • NUTS (trace amounts from shared preparation space)

Typical Ingredients:

All-purpose wheat flour, sugar, eggs, milk or coconut milk, butter or margarine, baking powder, cardamom and/or cinnamon, vanilla extract, salt, vegetable oil (for frying)
